OBITUARY: Mildred I. (Torgerson) "Millie" Johnsrud, 1920-2004 [Based on obituary in Northwood Anchor online, posted 8-11-2004] Mildred I. "Millie" Johnsrud Mildred I. "Millie" Johnsrud, 83, of Northwood, Iowa, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood. Memorial services were held Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Rev. Wayne Hagen officiating. Inurnment was at the East Freeborn Lutheran Church Cemetery, Albert Lea, Minnesota. According to her wishes her body was cremated. Mildred "Millie" I. Johnsrud was born on Dec. 9, 1920, in Hanlontown, Iowa, the daughter of Olaf and Christina (Thorson) Torgerson. She attended and received her education in the Northwood school system, graduating from Northwood High School. She was united in marriage to Robert Johnsrud on March 19, 1941, in San Francisco, California. He preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1974. Millie worked first as a cook for Ron's Drive Inn Restaurant in Northwood and than worked for 35 years at the Midway Cafe in Northwood until her retirement. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Katy Jaspers and her husband Allen of Northwood, and Bob Johnsrud of Northwood, and special friend Shirley Davis of Huntington Beach, California; four grandchildren, Jill Rothove and her husband Todd of Kensett, Kelly Theiss and her husband Adam of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Joel Jaspers of Northwood, Kyle Jaspers and his wife Jena of Lisbon, Iowa; five great-grandchildren, Collin Jaspers, Katelyn Jaspers, Zak Snyder, Tristan Rothove and Emily Theiss; a sister, Geneva Hove of St. Louis, Missouri; two nieces, JoAnn Sanden and her husband Melvin and Susan Franson both of St. Louis, Missouri; as well as other relatives and many friends.
