ELLINGSON Walter C. Ellingson, 80, of Northwood, died Saturday, April 23, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood IA. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood, with the Rev. Mark Gravdal and Rev. Otto Staehling officiating. Burial was in Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Mr. Ellingson was born Jan. 28, 1903, in Barton Township to Gunder and Barbara (Thorson) Ellingson. He attended Barton rural schools and Carpenter High School. He farmed with his brother, Victor, for many years. On June 12, 1927, he married Rebecca Jackson in Austin, Minn. Following their marriage, they moved to Northwood, where he worked as a tank wagon oil salesman for Worth County Coop Oil. He later went into business for himself as a livestock and farm equipment dealer in Northwood, retiring in 1968. He had been a resident of the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood for the past two and a half years. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; two daughters, Mrs. Alton (LaVonne) Flatness, Northwood; and Mrs. Stanley (Donna) Wignes, St. Louis Park, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Rudolph (Grace) Aase, Port Charlotte, Fla., and Lorry Rice, Cincinnati; a brother, Glenn, Wayne, Neb.; two grandsons, two great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
