He was camped by himself and had considerable money on his person. A bullet hole was found near the cheek bone, and several other wounds about his head, crushing the skull. He had evidently been murdered while asleep, as he was in his blankets when found. Several wallets and a money belt were found near the body. The murderer who commited the deed to obtain the money is still at large, and the authorities have no clue as yet of the guilty party.
