T. and for all whom these presents come, greeting: Whereas, At the May term, A. D. 1871, of the District Court, for the Second Judicial District, in and for the county of Boise, in the territory of Idaho, one Dennis Crowley; was duly convicted of the crime of murder in the second degree, the same being then and there a felony, and the said court then and there legally sentenced him, the said Dennis Crowley to hard labor and confinement in the Territorial prison, of said Territory, for the period of 15 years, from and after the 3d day of July 1871. And, whereas, the said Dennis Crowley is now undergoing the penalty of the law, as in said sentence imposed by imprisonment in the United States Penitentiary, at Boise City, as a Territorial convict, according to law. And whereas, petitions have been presented to me, praying for the pardon of him, the said Dennis Crowley, signed by a large majority of qualified voters of said county. And whereas, the Judge of the said District, before whom said Dennis Crowley was tried, convicted, and sentenced, has together with the District Attorney of said Court, who prosecuted him, filed in my office a written petition urging executive clemency in behalf of said convict.
