Button, 98, of 1221 Hays, who died Thursday in a Boise hospital, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Alden-Waggoner Chapel by the Rev. David Decker, First Christian Church. Interment will be in the Star Cemetery. He was born Aug. 28, 1878, in Butler Center, Iowa, and lived his early years in Kansas and Missouri. He went to school in Missouri and later attended teacher's college at Warrensbury, MO., and at the University of Missouri. He was superintendent of schools at Liberal, MO., Golden City, MO., and Barton County, MO. He married Bessie Pence, Jan. 22, 1911, in Mt. Vernon, MO. He was a manager of a lumber company in Golden City and in 1910 was cashier for the Golden City First National Bank. He moved to Parma in 1927 where he was assistant cashier for the Parma National Bank. In 1936 he moved to Boise and worked for the Boise-Payette Lumber Co., until 1953 when he retired. From 1959 until 1974 he worked for the Alden-Waggoner Chapel. He was a member of the Christian Church where he served on the board of directors, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and Ada Odd Fellows No. 3. Surviving are a son, Harold, Boise, and a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Greenlee, Boise, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
