Grumbling, the announcement of whose death was made Sunday morning, had been identitied with the growth of Boise and vicinity for many years. It was he who discovered the hot water springs near the penitentiary and afterward put down the artesian wells from which the supply for Boise is taken. He also started the electric plant across the river. Mr. Grumbling was born in Pennsylvania in 1835. He came to Boise 16 years ago, and had lived in this city continuously until his death. Two children survive hime, one of whom lives in this state and one in Pennsylvania.
