C. Maupin removes Another Pioneer FUNERAL AT 2 THIS AFTERNOON Was Actively Engaged in Business Here Until Stricken with Paralysis Three Years Ago Thomas C. Maupin, the pioneer Boise blacksmith died Saturday. The funeral will be held from the family residence, corner of Grove and Ninth streets, at 2 o'clock this afternoon. The Masons will attend the funeral in a body and conduct the services at the grave. The death of Mr. Maupin removes another of the pioneers of this state. The deceased was born in Virginia in 1841 and came to Idaho in the fall of 1864, making Boise his home. Until the spring of 1896 he was actively engaged in the blacksmith business here. In March of that year he suffered an attack of partial paralysis. The paralysis gradually extended over his body, rendering him as helpless as a child. During the past year he was confined to his bed being unable to move without help. For a week prior to his death he was delirious and there were other indications that the end was not far off. During the time Mr. Maupin was engaged in business here he enjoyed an enviable reputation for straightforwardness in all his dealings. From a small beginning he built up a big business and was preparing to launch out on even a broader scale when he was stricken. Since that time his sons have conducted the business, receiving valuable counsel from the bed-ridden father so long as he was in condition to give any thought to the details of the business.
