Cole, 90, died Jan. 10, 2006, at his daughter´s home in Nampa. Services will be held 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006 in the New Meadows High School gym. Burial will follow in the Meadows Valley Cemetery. There Will be a potluck at the New Meadows Senior Center following the burial. Services are under the direction of the Heikkila Funeral Chapel, McCall. Rufus was born Oct. 9, 1915 in English, Indiana, the son of Rodney Ernest And Harriett Gott Cole. He was raised in Lakin, Kansas and attended school In Lakin and graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago in 1949. Cole Served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the Medical Corp of the 91st Infantry, in Italy, and was honored with a Bronze Star and good conduct Medal. On April 28, 1946, he married Anne B. Smatlak in Johnstown, Pa. He was ordained a missionary pastor in 1950. During his lifetime, he was not only an ordained minister, but also a farmer in Kansas, he worked in a sawmill, loved mechanics, built several churches, and worked with the Back County Ministry in Idaho for 46 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Memorials may be made to the Back Country Ministry Fund for future church work in Meadows Valley.
