Sorren and Will Hansen sons, and Mrs. Ross, daughter were called to his bedside on Sunday and were with him at the time of death. The cause of death is given as cancer of the stomach. The deceased was seventh-four years of age and had been a resident of this section for thirty- eight years. He was a sturdy, honorable man, who had a host of friends throughout the county. We will endeavor to gather data for obituary mention for our next issue. (The Adams County Leader, Friday, April 8, 1921) Rasmus Hanson Laid at Rest The body of Rasmus Hanson was brought home last Friday morning from Payette and the funeral was held from the Methodist Church immediately after the arrival of the train. A brief and appropriate funeral sermon was delivered by the Rev. Mr. Riley and L.L. Burtenshaw, old-time friend of the deceased reviewed briefly the useful life that had just gone out. From his remarks we gathered that Rasmus Hansen was born in Denmark on July 30, 1847, and came directly from Europe to Utah. After living in that state for 2 yrs he came to this community and settled in Hornet Creek valley. Since giving up active work he had spent most of his time in Council until last fall when he went to Payette, in the hope that the change of altitude would prove beneficial. While there he made his home with his son-in-law, Ellis Hartley. Mr. Burtenshaw basing his remarks upon long personal acquaintance, paid his tribute to the personnal character of the deceased, and from general comment we gather that his view but reflects that of the old gentleman's acquaintance as a whole. The deceased is survived by his widow, three sons - Sorren, of Council; Nelson, of New Plymouth, and William, of Council --- and two daughters, Mrs Stena Ross who lives near Council, and Miss Anna Hanson of Fruitland. The members of the family have requested that we, on their behalf, extend thanks for the many acts of kindness and courtesy shown at the time of their bereavement. Note: Burial at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Council, Idaho. ch File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/id/adams/obits/h/hanson1907gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/idfiles/ File size: 3.2 Kb
