Hanson Dies In Auto Crash Near Vale Road Junction Charles A. Hanson, 37, of Council was killed at 2 a.m. Monday morning when he was thrown from his car in a collision two miles west of Cairo junction on the Vale highway, seven miles from Ontario, Ore. State Police reported that a car driven by ;John DeBoer, Ontario, eastward bound on Highway 10, was struck on the left corner of the rear bumper by Hanson's car, also traveling east. Following the collision, the Council man's car veered off the highway, sheared a telephone pole and rolled, throwing the driver from the vehicle. The car came to rest on its top. Two passengers in the DeBoer car, were taken to Holy Rosary hospital, Ontario, for examination and released. Funeral services for Mr. Hanson are set for this (Friday) afternoon at the Council Congregation church at 1 p.m. Interment will be here under the direction of the Northam-Jones chapel of Weiser. Charles A. Hanson was born May 23, 1923 at Council, the son of William and Lula Hanson. He was educated in the Council schools and was a graduate of Council High School. Surviving are his father, William Hanson, Council; three sisters, Mrs. Lelia Palmer of Wallace, Mrs. Ann Leukenga, Nampa, and Mrs. Mattie Thomas, Council.
