Hunt, Who Played an Important Part in Upbuilding of Hailey, Passes When Edward E. Hunt passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lyttleton Price, in this city at an early hour Wednesday morning, Wood River valley lost a real pioneer, a man who wielded a good influence throughout a long and honorable life, a beautiful character. His end came peacefully in his 86th year, the result of a fall he sustained while at work painting his store buildings on Main street 10 days before. He did not rally from the effects of his fall, but fell asleep attended by relatives and loyal friends. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at I.O.O.F. hall in this city at 2 o'clock. Mr. Hunt was one of the charter members of Rising Star Lodge of this order and was one of the oldest Odd Follows in Idaho. It is altogether fitting, therefore, that the funeral services be under the auspices of this organization that was so dear to his heart. Burial will take place in the City Cemetery. Edward E. Hunt was a native of England, born in the county of Kent, July 13, 1839. His father was John Hunt, an armorer in the service of the British navy, and his son, Edward, served his time from 14 to 21 under the under the British government as a shipwright. He was married in England to Louisa Davis and came to New York and thence to St. Joe, Missouri, in 1866. There he was joined later by his wife and two children. Later In 1875 he moved to California, and in 1880 he came in advance of his family to Hailey staging from Kelton, Utah, and bringing with him the first complete set of carpenter's tools to Wood River valley. From that time forward Mr. Hunt followed his calling as a contractor and builder. He assisted in the erection of the Blaine County Court House, then Alturas County, the Bellevue school house, many of the more important business houses in Hailey, and numerous mills at the important mines of the district. Mr. Hunt's family did not come to Hailey till 1886. In the meantime he played important parts in the upbuilding of the community. He started the first Sunday School in the old school house with the able assistance of Mrs. Ensign and Mrs. Rupert. He also led in an evening song service for years, a service that was attended and enjoyed by the whole community. Baptized in his youth in Westminster Abbey Mr. Hunt was ever a sincere member of the Episcopal Church, and rendered loyal service to the community through that organization, cooperating loyally with Rev. I. T. Osborn in the early years. He was always intensely loyal to Hailey and ready to do his full share in the promotion of every worthy civic enterprise. He is survived by two children, Mrs. Lyttleton Price of Hailey and and George W. Hunt of Pocatello. Mr. Hunt came over last Saturday to see his father after his injury. He returned home but came again with Mrs. Hunt to be present at the funeral services and to assist at the burial. [Note - Edward E.
