He was respected by all who knew him. The deceased was born on the Western Reserve on Ohio, May 10, 1824. He crossed the plains to California in 1849, went east via Cape Horn in 1850, and returned to California across the Isthmus of Panama in 1861. He stayed seven months at Panama, nursing cholera patients with his funds being low, as he refused pay for his services, he went on to California, where he prospected and placer mined with varying success, being alternately wealthy and poor. In 1881 he went to Wood River and went to Smokey, of which region he was the pioneer, and where he located the Sunday and other good mines. In 1883 he went to the head of the Payette, where he located some claims that have since proved to be very valuable. They are now owed by his daughter, Mrs. P. M. Bruner, and her husband with who he has made his home for the past fourteen years. The deceased was a typical pioneer, big hearted and broad minded, and he raised a large family, of who three married children who survive him. These are Mrs. P. M. Bruner and Abner O. Wilson, both of Hailey; and George W. Wilson, of Hagerman. His funeral will take place from the Emmanuel church, in this place, at half past three o'clock tomorrow afternoon. All friends and aquaintances are respectfully invited to attend.
