A. West and others have petitioned or rather will apply to the Board of County Commisioners to establish a ferry on Snake River at the Old Brown Lee crossing, also for a license to establish a toll road from the Belmont Mine leading to this ferry. It was thought in the early settlement of this country that the Brown lee route would be the principal road, but it soon fell into disuse and has been abandoned. It is not improbable, should a good town be built in the vicinity of the Weiser mines, that the Brown Lee route may still be the main traveled road to Grande Ronde.
