All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/id/idfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Chris Storey chrissy_7@q.com October 15, 2009, 2:23 am Idaho World June 16 1870 BODY RECOVERED--- On last Friday evening the body of John Wheelen (Not Wheeler, as published in our last issue), who was buried in the slide, on the Hafendorfer Bros. claims last week, was found near the lower end of the slide, about two hundred feet or more from where the slide struck him. With the exceptions of a few bruises and a severe cut on the head, the body was in a good state of preservation. The deceased was a native of the state of Maine, and aged about38 years. The funeral took place on last Saturday, and was well attended. In connection with the matter, Messrs, Hafendorfers request us to return their thanks to Noble, Saunders & Co. and to their employes for the prompt assistance and aid rendered by them in the endeavors to recover the bodt of the unfortunate deceased. Messers,Wilhelm and Mofit, who were injured at the same time, are getting along finely, and are able to be out on the street. Additional Comments: Accident happened at Charcoal Gulch.
