She was 91. Shortly after she was born, January 9, 1914, in Colfax, Wash., her family moved to a farm near Windom, Minn., where she lived as a young child. Her experiences on the farm provided her with many fond memories and stories that she would entertain her children and grandchildren with throughout her life. At the age of 10, her family moved to Spokane where she lived most of her life amongst many relatives and friends, and where she and her husband, Ernie, raised their family. During the years from 1963 to 1983 she and her family lived on the Pend Oreille River near Priest River, Idaho, returning to Spokane to live because of her husband Ernie's failing health. A homemaker, she was passionate about gardening and poetry. Each summer her garden was a dazzling display of color. Her memory was amazing, and she could recite poetry for hours. Preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, to whom she has now "flown away to join", and by her sisters Rilla Bland, and Midge Redding, and her brother J. Robert Redding. Loving mother to her two daughters Linda Hanson (Allan), and Leslie Eldenburg (John Kovacik), and her 3 sons Paul (Mary Jo), Dave (Cindy), and Eric; Survived by her sisters Mary Hallett, and Betty Shryack; and, by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on January 7, 2006 at the Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way, Spokane, with a reception immediately following at the Women's Club of Spokane, 1428 W. Ninth Ave. Additional Comments: Priest River Times Priest River, Bonner County, Idaho Volunteer submission - No relation to the deceased.
