Leach, 69, of Newport passed away on Nov. 18, 2005 in Spokane following a long battle with cancer. Ron was born May 7, 1936 in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan. He moved to Newport in 1993 where he worked for the Pend Oreille County P.U.D. as a journeyman lineman until his retirement in 2005. Ron worked for over 45 years in the utility industry. On May 4, 1970 he married JoAnn Bell in North Bend. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, hockey, camping, traveling and most of all spending time with his family. He was a member Rodeo Association, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and a past member of the Newport Eagles. Survivors include his wife JoAnn at the family home, two sons Donald (and Denise) Huffman of Wenatchee and Thomas (and Elsie) Leach of Newport; grandchildren, Brandee, Jayme Abbey, Samantha Jared and Kayora. Survivors also include one brother Glen and a one sister Joyce, both of Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Geoff. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 26, 2005 at The Pine Ridge Community Church in Newport. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Nov. 28, 2005 at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
