Richard was born Oct. 4, 1929 in Missoula, Mont. to Patterson and Lucille McGee. After growing up in Missoula he joined the Army in 1951 and served three years in the Korean War from which he was honorably discharged in 1954. He returned to Missoula and to work at the White Pine Sash. In 1960 after knowing her for only seven days, he married his bride of 45 years, 11 months, Hazel Pettit on Jan. 22, 1960. Together they lived in Washington while he drove truck and logged until they settled in 1961 in Superior, Mont. He went to work for Diamond International then Crown Pacific and finally retiring in 1994 when it was DAW. Together they raised three children, Randy, Lorri, and Richard. Some of the best times of the family were the camping trips. The kids went to sleep in the back of the truck which Dad had hooked up to the camper before leaving for work and when they woke up in the morning could be anywhere from Flathead Lake, Lake Mary Ronan to Canyon Ferry in Helena. Dad would just close his eyes and Richie was there ready to fish and Dad was always ready to take him even though he had been up all day, worked till 3 or 4 a.m. and drove for several hours to get to the lade. It was the weekend and time for his family. Richard and Hazel lost their son, Randy Alan in 1973 and grandson, Richard Alan in 1999. Richard is survived by his wife Hazel of Post Falls, Idaho; a daughter, Kathleen McGee of Missoula; a daughter, Lorri (John) Berry, Blanchard, Idaho; son, Richard (Edie) McGee of Newport, Wash.; sister, Patsy (Robert) Schatz, of Missoula, Mont.; and he is also survived by the pride of his life, his "Dumb Clucks!" Kelsie (Randy) Lees, Blanchard, Cameron Berry, Great Falls, Kalena Berry, Blanchard, Calvin (Jerri, Jake, Jazz) Berry, Superior, Robyn (son, Richard Adam) McGee, Spokane, Melody, Michael, Dylan McGee, Newport. He was preceded in death by son, Randy Alan and a grandson, Richard Alan, his parents and two brothers, Harry and Walter. He also leaves behind several family members and friends who were very dear to him. Richard McGee, "you were a good man" and we love you! Services for Richard were held on Dec. 31, 2005 at the Community Church in Superior, Mont. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of local arrangements.
