True, 84 Fredrick D. True, 84, of Oldtown, Idaho passed away on August 28, 2005 in Newport, Wash. following a long illness. Fred was born April 24, 1921 in Cliff Lake, Mont. the son of Frederick D.H. and Regina (Stackovick) True. After graduating from high school Fred joined the United States Army in 1940 and served five years. His citations included a Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with a Bronze Star, and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal. While he was still in the Army he meet his future wife Audrey Sundler and on April 8, 1942 the two of them were married in Reno, Nev. In 1949 the two of them moved to Oldtown where he built the family home. Many people knew Fred because of his job. He was the telephone repairman for the Newport and Oldtown area for over 37 years, retiring in 1983. He and his wife also owned and operated Audrey's restaurant from 1964-1975. He loved bowling, fishing, carpentry, carving and gardening. Survivors include his wife Audrey at the family home; one daughter Yvonne A. Wayland-Miles also at the family home; a grandson William W. Wayland of Priest River, Idaho; one great grandson Christopher Wayland of Minnesota and a sister Marjorie Brislin of Jacksonville, Fla. Besides his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a grandson Warren Wayland; one sister Alvera Brown, and a brother, Roy A. True. A Memorial Service will take place at a later date. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
