Brooks, 64, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2002 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Memorial services were held Monday, April 29, 2002 at the Sandpoint Christian Center with Pastor David Nelson officiating. Don was born on Oct. 1, 1937 in Ely, Minn., the son of Ralph and Helen (Erickson) Brooks. In his early years, Don loved to ski. He had been a member of the Olympic Ski Team, traveling on the World Cup circuit. He had coached and managed a ski resort in Bear Valley, Calif. Don owned Reliance Enterprises, Inc. for the past 27 years in Bonners Ferry, Id. Don became an avid golfer when he was no longer able to ski. He had been director of Senior Golf in Bonners Ferry and sponsored the Country Classic Couples Tournament held at Mirror Lake Golf Course for many years. Don was a person who enjoyed the outdoors. Don was a member of the Sandpoint Christian Church in Sandpoint, Id. He was a man who loved his family and his granddaughter who was the apple of his eye. Don is survived by his wife, Shirley of Bonners Ferry, Id.; his step-daughter, Lisa Cossairt and husband Toby of Pasco, Wash.; one granddaughter, Ashley Renee Cossairt and one great-grandson on the way, Tyler Matthew Cossairt; step-sister, Patricia Corkill; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends. Don was preceded in death by his natural father, Joseph Bezek, and his parents Ralph and Helen Brooks.
