Private Services will be held. John was born on Nov. 5, 1922, in Scotland, S. D. to Arthur and Lilly May (Cass) Brown. He attended elementary school at Cass School, a country school a mile from his farm home. He attended high school at Scotland and graduated from the University of South Dakota with a business degree in 1948. John married Jeanne Marie Reichert in 1944 while he was stationed in the Army at Fr. Jackson, South Carolina. He served in the Pacific theatre in World War II and was released from active duty as a 1st Lieutenant in the Corp of Engineers. He was later recalled to active duty and spent seventeen months in Korea. In 1952 John joined New York Life and retired in 1987 after 35 years with them as an agent and General Manager. He attained his CLO degree while a General Manager in the Nicollet office in Minneapolis, Minn., in 1961. Throughout his life he was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, he loved golf (in his time spent golfing he got three holes in one) photography, and above all else his family. John's legacy of giving and steadfastness is always remembered and passed on to his daughters and Grandsons. Always quick with a smile and laughter, a joke or great story, we will miss that wonderful sparkle. John loved his home in the mountains of North Idaho.Survivors include two daughters, Jacquelynn Sue Grombacher and Jane Marie Pfisthner and husband Craig; four grandchildren: John Frederick Grombacher and wife Jennifer, George Lewis Grombacher; Jacob Alexander Pfisthner and Samuel Colten Pfisthner, we love you always and miss you greatly.
