He was suffering from diabetes and congestive heart failure. He was born Oct. 17, 1961 in St. Anthony, Idaho, the son of Theron and Valene Cheney. He graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1980 and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Denmark. On June 3, 1983 he married Lori May Rumsey of Sandpoint, Id. in the Cardston Alberta temple. They made their home in Bonners Ferry for a time and then moved to Spokane, Wash. where he attended Spokane Community College and Eastern Washington University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in teaching. He also drove school bus and did farm work. He found his calling with a local garbage company and was soon in the office in sales and running the company. His final job was dispatcher for the Window Welders, where he negotiated with insurance companies, bought glass and dispatched workers. He worked a full shift the day he passed away. Survivors include his wife of 20 years and their children, Elizabeth, Ana, Alyn and Samuel of Wendell, Id.; his parents, Theron and Valene Cheney of Hagerman, Id.; brothers Cody (Tyra) of Rigby, Id.; Darrin (Stephanie) of Riverton, Wyoming; and Tamara Rasmussen (Shane) of Twin Falls, Id.; and two nieces, Rachael and Larissa; and nephews, Shaun, Lance, Dusty, Christopher, Taylor and James. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, a younger brother and his paternal brother and his paternal grandfather. Funeral services were held March 7, 2003 at the Wendell Stake Center, and internment was at the Wendell Cemetery.
