Funeral Services were held at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry, on Aug. 19, 2002 followed by burial service at the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho's Cemetery. He was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho on Oct 25, 1954 to Jack and Laurie (Nichols) Cooper. The family lived and he attended school in Bonners Ferry. In his childhood he enjoyed riding his bike, boating, fishing, swimming, hunting, target practicing, and taking things apart and putting them back together. Fred joined the Army and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA, where he married Dixie (Abraham) Cooper. He got his G.E.D. while in the service and later attended college in Lewiston, ID in which he studied small engine repair. He moved back to Bonners Ferry and worked as a mechanic and tree nursery worker for Clifty View Nursery. He then went to work for the Forest Service as a timber Stand Improvement Crew Boss. He also, while on the crew, went on fires to the siege of 87 in California and Yellowstone Fires of 88 to name just a few. His next and final job he worked for Ansley, Inc., out of Seattle WA. Fred enjoyed working, swimming, hunting, fishing, boating, collecting guns and reloading, gathering firewood, gardening, canning, hanging out at Ralph's and having his grandchildren coming out to his cabin and staying the weekend. He was a member of the N.R.A. for over twenty years. Survivors include his daughters Kym and Renae, grandchildren Angela Cooper, Winey, Marrriah Uhnak, Jasmine, Danika, Kaleb and Maxwell Lange, Mother Laurie (Cooper) Gangwer and step father Bill; brothers Jack, Charles, Boyd and sister Jean, his life companion Sue McCabe and her children Brandy and Bobby Fellows, ex-wife Dixie Abraham. He was preceded in death by his father Jack Sr., his grandparents Orval and Alice Nichols, Fred and Bessie Meddock, younger brother Earl Cooper and son Mike Cooper.
