Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2002 at the Free Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry with Pastor Lowell Carlson officiating. Internment will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint, Id. Gladys was born on Jan. 24, 1913 in Dover, Idaho the daughter of Harry and Emma (Staats) Aldrich. She grew up in Dover and attended schools in Sandpoint, Id. Graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1930. Gladys married Cyril DeMers on November 28, 1936 in Newport, WA. They moved to Portland, Oregon while Cyril worked in the shipyards during World War II. They returned to Idaho, settling in Moyie Springs where they lived until moving to Bonners Ferry in the early 1980’s. Gladys worked at Sears-Roebuck in Sandpoint for a few years and also served on the Election Board at the Washington School Precinct for many years. While living in Bonners Ferry she worked for Montgomery Wards. She was active in the community and was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Aerie #589 in Sandpoint. She also belonged to the Academy of Friendship, the Moose Lodge, Moyie House Party Social club, as well as an assistant leader for the boy scouts and girl scouts with her children. Gladys was an active bowler both in Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry, bowling until the age of 87. She was a great cook, a perfectionist at anything she did, and an avid reader. She enjoyed working with her flowers, and playing cards. She enjoyed all the activities while she lived at the Restorium in Bonners Ferry. She is survived by a 3 children; Marsh (Frank) Miller, Bonners Ferry; Joan (Dan) Wilson, Naples, Id; Terry (Paula) DeMers, Sandpoint; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cyril, 2 sisters and 1 brother. Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service, Sandpoint.
