"June" was born on Aug. 1, 1930 to Percival and Florence Shiell in Scobey, Mont., the sixth of nine children. She and her family lived in several Montana towns before moving and settling in the Bonners Ferry area in 1940. June attended grade school at the Buckhorn School in Moyie Springs and graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1949. She traveled to Greybull, Wyoming to visit relatives and worked there briefly before adventuring off to Los Angeles, Calif., with family, friends in January 1950 where she embarked on a modeling career. She married Berlyn D. Hoover of Greybull, Wyoming on March 9, 1951 in Red Lodge, Mont. As Berlyn was in the Navy, the couple traveled extensively following duty stations. They lived in new Mexico, Hawaii, Oregon, Montana, Midway Island and various California costal bases. They also lived in Moyie Springs where most of June's family were settled, finally returning to Moyie Springs upon retirement in 1991. Among June's many interests and hobbies were sewing, crocheting, knitting, reading, ceramics, crafts, oil painting, golfing, fishing and camping. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to travel. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Donald, Ronald, Lowell, Greg and Norman. She is survived by her husband, Berlyn D. Hoover of Moyie Springs; two brothers Gordon Shiell of Bonners Ferry and Marlo Shiell of Lewiston, Idaho; one sister, Gwen White of Bonners Ferry; daughters and son-in-laws, Steve and Cheryl Economu, Mike and Diana Summerfield, and Steve and Rona Fields, all of Moyie Springs; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2002 at 11. a.m. in the Free Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Internment will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
