Leslie Passes Suddenly; Led Active Life Mrs. Eva M. Leslie, 86-year-old Boundary county pioneer and well known resident, passed away at her home suddenly Thursday, morning, July 2. She was the widow of William A. Leslie, former boundary county commissioner and Idaho State Senator. She was born March 21, 1884, at Leadville, Colorado, the daughter of Benjamin. And Ida Hodgston Grace. In 1891 she moved with her parents to Boundary County where she grew up and received her education. On September 17, 1902 she married William A. Leslie here. Following her marriage, she and her husband engaged in farming on the North Bench until 1943 when they moved to the coast and she did defense work during World War II. In 1945 they returned to Bonners Ferry and continued to live on the farm. She later engaged in the poultry and egg business and her slogan “Leslie’s Fine Eggs for Particular People” became a trademark in Boundary County. Never an idle person, she devoted her life to her family as well as taking an active part in the activities of farm life. She sold life insurance for many years and, a person interested in community affairs, she served as Constable for 12 years and devoted many years to serving as a member of district No. 101 School board. She was a member of the Bonners Ferry Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a member of the Boundary County Historical Society and an active member of the Busy Bee Club. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965 and by a daughter, Mrs. Grace Leslie Barber, in 1942. Survivors include her sons, Alfred W. Leslie and Keith F. Leslie, Bonners Ferry, Oliver M. Leslie, Glendora, California, and a daughter, Mrs. Alice E. Kruegel, Bonners Ferry. Also surviving are her 10 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, at the Bonners Ferry Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Koyle Hatfield officiating. Internment under the direction of the Hillcrest Memorial Chapel, followed in Grandview Cemetery. Pallbearers were Elder Clarence Tenney, Elder Charles E. Pluid, Elder John Poston, Elder Van bailey, D. O. Haagenson and Melvin Erickson. Mrs. Charles E. Pluid was organist.
