He passed away peacefully at home on July 25, surrounded by his family. Don graduated from Washington State University as a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He then lived in the San Francisco Bay area and had great times as a young man. He owned and operated Nieland Yule Trees, the family business, and worked as assistant manager of Travis Pattern and Foundry in Spokane, Wash., until retirement. Don was a member of the Spokane Country Club and served as president. His greatest passions in life were his family, his love of golf and history. He was a man of great charisma, knowledge, integrity and dignity. Don is survived by his wife Julie; son, Bryan Nieland of Spokane; daughters, Kelly Nieland of Bellingham, Wash.; Kara Arnold, of New Castle, Colo.; sister, Sharen Evans, of Twin Falls, Idaho; nieces Barbara Neary, of Tustin Ranch, Calif.’ And Valory Reed, of Laguna Niguel, Calif.
