Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry, Saturday, December 2, 1995 at 2 p.m. Lloyd Evertte Ponsness was born march 1, 1912 to Lars and Bertha Ponsness in Badger, Iowa. Despite being injured at birth and not able to walk for several years, Lloyd recovered and lead an active life. Lloyd married Dorothy Eastwood in Webster City, Iowa on May 18, 1935 they lived in Iowa and Minnesota till moving West, settling in Rathdrum, Idaho in 1947. Lloyd, Dorothy and their 4 children spent much of their time hunting, fishing, shooting trap, and prospecting for uranium in the Priest Lake area. Lloyd was employed from 1947 to 1953 by Kaiser Aluminum, Trentwood as a machinist. In 1962 he invented a shotgun shell reloading tool and the company of Ponsness-Warren, Inc. was established in 1963 in Rathdrum. He retired in 1972 due to ill health. His retirement years were spent fishing and hunting. Lloyd and Dorothy moved to Bonners Ferry in 1986 and in 1988 he started Border Bait. They spent 5 years driving 500 miles a week delivering bait. His granddaughter Shelley Simonsen and her husband Eric have taken over the family route. Preceded in death by wife Dorothy, 6 brothers and 3 sisters, Lloyd is survived by daughters Janet Lange of California, Carol Spirs, of England, sons Dennis of Porthill and Stan of Alaska, Lloyd and 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
