Services for Lester will be Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home; private inurnment will be in the Grandview Cemetery. In loving memory, and in honor of our father, Lester Vernon Poston, born Nov. 19, 1922, at Boundary Community Hospital, Bonners Ferry, Idaho Our dad grew up in Bonners Ferry, and worked at the Bonners Ferry Lumber Company when he was 16, while going to high school, he graduated, and was drafted into the service shortly thereafter. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Luzon, with the 25th Lightening Division, Wolfhound regiment from ’43 to ’46 as a medic on the front lines, until the war was over. He docked in Tacoma, Wash., where he lived for a short time with his family and worked driving logging truck on Mount Rainier, until he met and married Donna Mae Rygmyr, from Tacoma, on Feb. 14, 1948, in Tacoma. He then moved back to Bonners Ferry to raise his family, and went back to work at the Bonners Ferry Lumber Company for several years, until he took a job with Louisiana Pacific Lumber Company, where he worked as a lanner set-up man until he retired. He lettered in basketball and track in high school, and earned his gold basketball. He also played on the town league basketball team, and at one time they won the Idaho Panhandle Championship. He was an avid hunter, it was his favorite pastime, he loved to hunt with his brother, and sons. He also liked to fish. He was an avid sports fan. He was also a builder. His dad and brothers worked together and built the houses they live in to this day. Preceding him in death are his wife, Donna Poston; and son Lester L. Poston; his parents; John and Alice Poston; brother Lloyd Poston; and sister Mae Vanik. Surviving relatives are his daughters, Judith A. Nichols from Clarkston, Wash.; Brion H. Poston, wife Glenda, and Donavon R. Poston, of Bonners Ferry; Granddaughters, Jennifer R. Nichols, Asotin, Wash., Jessica M. Poston, Bonners Ferry; great-grandchildren, Tanya K. Nichols and Justin T. Nolte, from Clarkston, Wash.; brothers, Chuck Poston and John Poston, both from Bonners Ferry; sister, Shirley Messenger and her husband John, from Twin Falls, Idaho and numerous nieces and nephews.
