   Edith Allen Hunter Rose (Edie and she was fondly called) was born on April
11, 1924 in East Orange, New Jersey. She graduated from Virginia Intermont
College in Bristol, Va., in 1944. During World War II, she worked as a solder in
the communications field in order to assist the war effort. In the late 40's she
was employed as a patent attorney's secretary and had the pleasure of typing the
original patent on penicillin. During this time, while commuting from New Jersey
to New York City, going from train to ferry, then walking over 10 blocks to her
office in high heels, she met her future husband, Howard Bennet Rose. The two
were married in 1947.
   Edie and Howard had two children, a daughter, Lynn Bennet (husband Rusty and
daughter, Robin Leahy) Clarke, of Bellevue, Idaho; and a son, Allen Hunter Rose,
(wife Jan, sons, Arron Brown and Birch Rose), of Moyie Springs, Idaho. 
   They raised their family in Lake Valhalla, N.J. while Edie worked part-time
as a real estate assistant. In 1972, once both their children had left home,
Edie and Howard headed south to Marco Island, Fla. Edie worked as a researcher
in an ecology lab, and eventually as a secretary for the Marco Island Fire
Department. 
   Upon retirement in the early 1980's, Edie and Howard traded house for motor
home and set off to explore the states and visit their children and
grandchildren. Eventually, they settled down in Hailey, Idaho for a short
period. Howard, the love of her life, passed away in 1989, and Edie then moved
north to Bonners Ferry, Idaho to be closer to her son and his family. In early
2004, Edie moved back to Hailey to be able to spend time with her daughter.
Among her many passions, she loved boating, driving and playing cards. Edith
passed away on July 31, 2007. She will be missed by her many friends and family.
   As our mom often sang, "Happy Trails To You, 'til we meet again..."
