All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/id/idfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Volunteer Volunteer Idaho1417@gmail.com March 22, 2007, 8:02 pm Bonners Ferry Herald, Thursday, October 9, 1924 Aged Matron Passes Monday - Funeral Held This Afternoon at Local Lutheran Church The funeral of Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Schlette, who died Monday evening at 7 o'clock at her home in the Curley Creek district, was held today at 1 o'clock at the Lutheran church, the services being conducted by Rev. M. P. Deminersnaes. Many friends of the deceased attended the funeral and beautiful flowers were brought in token of esteem in which the departed one was held. The pallbearers were A. J. Kent, W. L. Kinnear, L. N. Brown, Tom Nicholson, M. P. De Wolf and Fred Gleed. The deceased was born at Bern, Switzerland, on January 13, 1851, and came to this country with her parents when she was a baby nine months old. Her marriage to C. Schlette took place at Garber, Iowa in 1872, and to this union were born three children; S. G. Schlette, who died June 14, 1919; Fronie Schlette, who died in infancy, and E. B. Schlette, of Bonners Ferry, an employee of the government bureau or roads engineering department. Mrs. Schlette came to this district in the spring of 1903, with her husband and son, from Edgewood, Iowa, and took up a homestead in the Curley Creek district, where she has since resided. her husband passed a way on February 25, 1915. Besides her son, she is survived by four sisters and six brothers who reside in various parts of Iowa; three grandchildren and one great grandchild, an uncle who resides in Switzerland and an uncle who resides in Iowa. The deceased was a devout Christian and a member of the Lutheran church. For many months prior to her death, Mrs. Schlette was an invalid, having suffered a stroke of paralysis on Jan 28, 1924, which left her bedridden. During the past few months she was under the care of a trained nurse, Alice Jones, of Spokane. The deceased enjoyed a wide acquaintance and a large circle of friends. She possessed a gentle, kindly disposition and always took a deep interest in the welfare of her friends and neighbors. She will be greatly missed among all who knew her and those join in extending their heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved relative.
