She unexpectedly and peacefully fell asleep in the arms of Jesus at her home on Nov. 9, 2002, reaching the age of 63 years and six months. At the age of 12, she accepted the call to salvation and was converted and baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on March 28, 1952 by Jesse Koehn at Winston (*note from Oma, think this is supposed to be Winton) Calif. With a simple trusting faith, Mom remained faithful to these vows, leaving us with the assurance that she has gone to be with Jesus. Her childhood years were spent in California where she received her education and grew to womanhood. In 1960, Helen met me, Howard Seaman, her husband to be, and we were married on Dec. 11, 1960 in Livingston, Calif. We shared life's joys and sorrows for nearly 42 years, our home was blessed with five children. The Lord gave Mom a special talent in being a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Her voice can still be heard through the door as Dad arrived home from work, "Children, Dad is home." Today in our minds we can hear the angels whisper, "Dad, children! Mom is home." The first 16 years of our married life was spent in Livingston, Calif. where we gained many precious friends and memories. We moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho in November 1976 and settled in the Moyie Springs area. In 1997 we moved to our present home. Here Mom found an old remodeled home, her dream home, and many times expressed her desire to live and die there. This the Lord graciously granted her. She found her way into the hearts of many of her northern neighbors and soon became "Grandma Helen" to many of the children here. Mom had a great faith in prayer and received many clear answers which were a comfort and inspiration to others. As her health began to fail, she suffered many crushing disappointments and setbacks. At times her courage was brought low, but she returned again and again to her Savior, who renewed her strength. This was a witness to her family and gives us a lively hope of her safe arrival home. Those left to cherish fond memories are me, Howard, her sorrowing husband; one son, Charles, and wife, Ronda, of Othello, Wash.; four daughters; Marilyn and husband Gene Miller, of Damas, Arkansas; Marjorie and husband, David Justus, Cheryl and Rhonda, all of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; and 14 grandchildren; her mother, Bernice Siemens of Bethel Home, Montezuma, Kansas; one brother, Vernon and wife, Leola Siemens of Quartzite, Ariz.; one sister, LaVerna, and husband, Robert Koehn of Farwell, Tesas; nieces and nephews and many friends. Preceding her in death are her dad, two brothers, one sister and one grandson.
