Services were held on Monday, December 23, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the Free Methodist church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho with burial in the Grandview Cemetery. Lonnie was born on August 8, 1934 in Lily, Kentucky to Herbert and Ruth (Harvey) Sherman. He worked for Vendolator Company that made Coca-Cola and Pepsi Vending Machines. He painted the wooden parts for them and later painted metal cabinets for many years. He then started his own body and paint shop and also painted big diesel trucks for a trucking company in Fresno, California. On June 18, 1954 he married Donna Foster in Fresno, California. For him it was love at first sight. Over the years he worked as a State Inspector for Building Inspection and Termite Control, as an exterminator in pest and termite control in Fresno and did motel and apartment management until retirement. After retirement they moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He was an active member of the Free Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He was a wood craftsman and artist. He will be remembered as a private man with dry sense of humor which many times went unnoticed and his strange dislike for green on his dinner plate and mayonnaise. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include two sons; Michael Sherman of Sonoma, Calif.; Robert Sherman of Modesto, Calif.; three daughters; Linda Irwin, Brenda Sherman and Pamela Martin all of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; mother Ruth Sherman of Sonoma, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Herbert, wife Donna, and brother Carl.
