Sitze, 81, died on Aug. 15, 2007, in Bonners Ferry Idaho. She died 16 days after the death of her beloved husband. After many years of illness, Virginia passed away in the arms of a devoted and loving care taker to be with our Lord. A private service is planned. Virginia (Babs) L. Lackey was born in Los Angeles, CA to Alton P. Lackey and Anna L. Foster on August 3, 1926. A few years after the birth of her youngest bother, the family moved to Lone Pine, CA where Virginia went to school and worked in the family home to take care of her two brothers before moving to Los Angeles, CA where she met her life partner of 57 years Lester Sitze. After returning from his tour of duty in WW II, Lester and Virginia were married on July 15, 1950 in Los Angeles, CA where they raised their two girls, Peggy Ann and "Cookie". Virginia chooses to become a homemaker to her children, husband and the household. In 1976 Virginia and Lester took a vacation to visit dear friends in Bonners Ferry, fell in love with the area and ultimately bought property in Paradise Valley. After her husbands early retirement in 1982, they finally made the move from hectic city life to the beautiful and serene area of Bonners Ferry where Virginia learned to DRIVE IN THE SNOW. She enjoyed gardening (in which they had "his" and "her"), bowling, canning, crocheting, pine needle weaving, quilting, and loved the change of each season. Never was there a change of season when you would not hear her total amazement at the beauty of spring, heat of summer, breath taking colors of fall or the quiet of snow falling in winter. Virginia leaves behind beloved daughters Peggy (John) Farr of Lomita, CA; Debbie (Brian) Willcox of Naples, ill; three grandchildren, John (Charlotte) Farr of Lomita, CA, James (Susan) Farr also of Lomita, CA and Alicia LeBlanc of San Diego, CA. She was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Austin, Baylee and Elizabeth, all of Lomita, CA; sister-in-law Carolyn Maddox; numerous nieces and nephews and many loved and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lester O. Sitze, Jr., parents Alton Lackey and Anna Foster and Brothers Allen and Robert Lackey. Passing into god’s hands is not the moment that we should be remembered for. It is the way we lived and the lives that we touched that defines us all. Virginia was a gentle soul and loved her family and friends. She will bring a bounty of love with her to god’s house and we know that she will be rejuvenated by our love and prayers.
