Services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 1997 at 11 a.m. at the Bonners Ferry funeral Home, in Bonners Ferry. Private Interment will follow in the Moravia cemetery. Myrtle was born on October 14, 1907 in Shelby County, Missouri to Isaac Francis and Nancy Margaret (Howerton) Robinson. She came to Boundary County in 1914 with her parents, returned to Shelby County, Missouri with a stopover of a year in Montana. In 1924 she moved to the Colville Reservation, Washington. She married Wesley I. Young of Cedonia, Washington on December 18, 1928 in Davenport, Washington, then moving to Boundary county in 1929 where she resided since with the exception of a short stay at Babb, Montana. Myrtle and Wesley were divorced on November 18, 1940 and she married Orval Van Etten on July 3, 1941. On May 10, 1938 she became a member of the Rebekah Lodge remaining a member until the time of her death. She was also a member of the Boundary County Craft Club and in her earlier year a member of the North Bench Grange. Myrtle was a girl Scout Leader in the 1940’s and in 1970’s was a craft instructor for Girl Scouts Northwest Day Camp in Spokane, Washington. She also volunteered doing crafts with the residents of the Community Restorium in Bonners Ferry for many years. During her years in Boundary County she had lived in Moravia, Eastport, Porthill, the North Bench and finally on the Northside in Bonners Ferry. Myrtle was a substitute mail carrier and helper with Orval on the Star Route to Porthill for many years. Myrtle enjoyed all kinds of crafts, crocheting, knitting, quilt making and textile painting. She won many blue ribbons at the county fair for her projects. Myrtle loved to fish and camp and spent many summer weekends with Nadine and LaMoine and family on the Pend O’rielle River. She also greatly enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center with friends. Myrtle was a compassionate, caring person and took care of her mother, father and sister in their later years. Myrtle is survived by daughter Beverly Nadine (Young) Krigbaum and husband LaMoine of Spokane, Washington; daughter-in-law, Mary (Copeland) Van Etten of Bonners Ferry; grandchildren; Mark Krigbaum and wife Rosalinda of Sacramento, California; Mary Ann Tritt and husband Bob of Bonners Ferry; Carla Brown and husband Rex of Spokane; Peggy Jo Van Etten of Bonners Ferry; John Ray Van Etten and wife Rose of Bonners Ferry; Connie Gentry and husband Orval of Bonners Ferry; Leassa Field and husband Troy of Germany; Jeannine Camacho and husband Jose of Fairbanks, Alaska, Paul VanEtten of Bonners Ferry, 18 great-grandchildren, 1 cousin, Constance Hollenbeck of Bonners Ferry, and numerous nieces and nephews. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orval, son John K. Van Etten, 3 brothers and sisters.
