Services were held on Friday, Dec. 6, 2002 at 1 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho with a Celebration of Life gathering to follow in Seattle, Wash. On Dec. 14, 2002. Melanie was born on Jan.4, 1974, in Seattle, Wash. To Lonny E. and Sarah J. Woodbury. She attended schools in Washington and completed her elementary education at Naples, Idaho. In 1992 she graduated in the top 10 from Bonners Ferry High School. While attending high school, she was a three year co-captain of the Bonners Ferry High School Drill Team and a member of National Honor Society and active in 4-H. She then attended Barnard College in New York and was a member of the varsity Columbia crew rowing team for four years and co-captain her last year of college. She graduated with a degree in history in 1996. During the summer of 1996 she worked in the fishing industry in Alaska and then returned to New York. In December of 1995 she went to work for Trident Fisheries. She moved to Seattle in 2001 continuing to work for Trident Fisheries as support services manager. Throughout her life she took in and cared for stray animals and loved to dance, camp, hike and kayak. She was a wonderful mother, and her son and unborn child were the most important thing in her life. She had an infectious smile, love of life, and a spark of enthusiasm that rubbed off on everyone that she met. Survivors include; her one year old son, David Samuel Bravo; father, Lon Woodbury and wife, Dense of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; mother Sarah Jorgenson of Spokane, Wash.; two sisters, Ruth Woodbury of Seattle, Wash. And Kristie Woodbury-Henley of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; brother, Sam Woodbury of Portland, Ore.; David’s father, Angel Bravo of Seattle, Wash., and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
