It is the disposition of the business men to put the matter on a business basis, and allow the farmers, stockraisers, and agriculturists to operate the thing. It is particularly desired that the fair be run in the interests of the farmers, and not to make it an affair of any one town or section but the fair of the whole county. To make it in deed what it is in name, a county fair. A committee has canvassed the city for subscriptions of stock, and the other towns in the county, as well as the individual farmers, will be asked to subscribe. Your correspondent is informed that $2000 has been already received. At the city council meeting last evening Marshal Kirkpatrick asked the city to appoint another marshal until after the proceedings in the Jesse Bays case had been settled, and Thomas Dryden was appointed marshal until the January meeting. The preliminary examination of Marshal Kirkpatrick will be held December 23, 1901, and his bond has been placed on $2000.
