McHose, 64, long-time resident of Nampa and widely known taxi operator, died suddenly Friday morning at his home, 616 Tenth Avenue South. Mr. McHose, who returned the first of the week from a hospital in Boise, where his right leg was amputated, had been able to be on crutches about house during the past few days and was believed to have been recovering. Death was attributed to a blood clot. He was born in Barnesville, Pa., July 11, 1873. In his youth he was employed as a printer on the Indianapolis Times for several years. He served the Y.M.C.A. in Saginaw, Mich., and Chicago, from where he was transferred to Decatur, Ill., to work with the railroad Y.M.C.A. In 1904 he married Grace Beadles in Decatur. A few years later he and his family came west, homesteading near Burns, Ore., where he was associated with the family moved to Nampa. In 1930 Mr. McHose started the 44 Taxi Service, which he was operating at the time of his death. He was a Member of the Methodist church and of Ashler Lodge No. 90, A. F. & A. M. He is survived by his wife, Grace B. McHose, Nampa musician and instructor; two children, Harry W. McHose, Jr., of New York City, and Mrs. Charlotte McHose Bowden of Elon college, North Carolina; one grandson, Douglas McHose Bowden; two brothers, Charles McHose and Tom Yoder McHose, both of New York City, and a half-brother, Guy McHose, of Nampa, and one sister, Miss Lotta McHose, of Los Angeles. The body is at Robinson’s funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Charles Donaldson, assisted by the Rev. Russell Gardner, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Methodist church. Burial will be in Kohlerlawn cemetery. The daughter, Mrs. Bowden, arrived from North Carolina several days ago, and the son will arrive Saturday afternoon by plane from New York City.
