Lucas of Albion, Cassia County, who has been in Hailey a few days on business, received a letter from his son yesterday, dated February 1st stating"That one Bill Rivers, of Cottonwood was arrested for beating one John Iverson and brought to Albion and fined $75. He got drunk yesterday, Saturday, and caroused around a great deal in the evening and Dan Stark, The Deputy Sheriff had some trouble with him, Rivers struck Stark, upon which Stark jumped away from him and told him not to come any nearer. Rivers advanced to strike Stark, upon which Stark shot him through the bowels. Rivers was conveyed to the hotel. He is not expected to live, as it is thought the bladder."
