1900 US Census Emmett District (EM) Lower Squaw District (LS) Upper Squaw District (US) Pearl Precinct (PL) (all are part of the present day Gem County). Extracted from film FHL #1240232 Extracted and compiled by Clella Stiles, 31 Dec 1996 Submitted for use by the USGenWeb Project and the IDGenWeb Project Archives, by Lucy N. Dill, 25 January 1997 SURNAME INDEX: RAMSEY TO YOUNGMAN Gem County was officially formed in 1915, but the information in this extraction will be useful to anyone tracking individuals in the area now encompassed by Gem County. Only heads of families are indexed here, but several homes had a number of heads of household listed in the same house. It is interesting to see that these families were from 27 different states and 8 different countries. Missouri has the most - 14 families, then Ohio with 9, Germany and Wisconsin with 7 each. It is also interesting to note the occupations. Children of these heads are not indexed here, but boarders, who had different surnames are. All listed are males unless otherwise noted with (f) for female. This index lists name, age, place of birth, year of immigration (for foreign born residents) and occupation. Some of the names are so hard to read, if you can't find your exact name, please look at the original and see if you can make the name out better. This census is on microfilm #1240232 and is available at the Emmett Family History Center or other LDS Family History Centers.
