Idaho Statesman 
Hester Ann Woody, 85, of Emmett, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 1986, in an Emmett 
nursing home of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Potter Funeral Chapel, 
Emmett. Rev. David Rieck of the United Methodist Church and Rev. Harry L. 
Granger of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Lodge rites will be by 
Rebekah Lodge #32. Burial will follow in the Emmett Cemetery.

Mrs. Woody, a retired teacher and a homemaker, was born May 21, 1901, at Gross, 
north of Ola, Idaho, a daughter of Gustav and Annie Cramer Gross. She worked 
her way through Boise High School and Boise Normal School. She taught school in 
Melba and in Pearl. During World War II she taught school at Vanderdasson in 
Emmett. She married Donald 0. MacAskill on June 20, 1923, at Gross. They lived 
in Boise and Butte, Mont., before settling at Emmett. They were the parents of 
three children. He died Feb. 27, 1958. She then married Dewey Woody on Feb. 8, 
1964, at Emmett. They spent 15 active years going to dances and lodge 
activities. He died Dec. 6, 1979.

She was a loyal member of the United Methodist Church; Rebekah Lodge #32; a 
past noble grand; LEA Auxiliary #64, Payette; Civic Club; and the World War. I 
Auxiliary.

Hester was a loving mother and grandmother, being loved by all who knew her.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Kathryn MacAskill 
of Livingston, Mont., and Wayne and Joanne MacAskill of Bend, Ore.; a daughter 
and son-in-law, Caroline and William McConnel of Emmett; two stepchildren, 
Kathy Stewie of Salem, Ore., and Carol Howell of Emmett; two brothers, Frank 
Gross of New Plymouth and Orvid Gross of Nampa; a sister, Janie Kimball of 
Emmett; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; 
and many friends. A stepson, a grandson, three brothers and a sister also died 
earlier.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Emmett; Walter Knox 
Memorial Hospital; the Mountain States Tumor Institute, Boise; or to a favorite 
charity.
