This is a partial transcription of the John Day Cemetery. John Day Cemetery is located approximately thirteen (13) miles north of Riggins, Idaho off Hwy 95. Take a right (east turn) from Hwy 95 on to John Day Rd. Go up John Day Road approximately one mile and on the left hand side is a sign indicating the John Day Cemetery. It appears to lead into a home, but a dirt road veers off to the right just before the home, and the cemetery is about another 300 yards on up the hill. The coordinates for the cemetery are 45 deg 35 min 5.7 secs North, by 116 degs 17 mins 18.5 secs West. There are about 100 graves in the cemetery that are marked. Cemetery is near the top of a hill next to a power substation. It is well maintained, watered, mowed and green. Size is approximately 200 ft by 200 ft. surrounded by a waist high chain link fence, with an unlocked gate on the east side of the cemetery just south of a maintenance shed.
