He was born in Grangeville November 6, 1900 to John and Liz Cash. After attending school, he worked as a ranch hand until 1924 when he married Julia Shinn in October 1924. From 1924 until 1931, he continued working on ranches in the Salmon River area and for the Forest Service. In 1931, he and his wife purchased a ranch on Doumecq plains and they ranched there until 1952, at which time they sold their ranch to their son, Roy. During the time he lived on Doumecq, he served on the school board, on the board of the Doumecq Highway District and was Master of the Grange. His wife died in 1956 and he continued working as a rancher until 1963 when he went to work at the mill at White Bird, working there until 1969, at which time he became ill and has been in the nursing home for the past 13 years. Survivors include one son, Roy, in Ellensburg, Washington; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Noland Funeral Home in Grangeville, with burial to follow at the Prairie View Cemetery.
