He was 83. He and his wife operated a dairy farm for several years at Grangeville. He retired as a carpenter in 1961 and after that worked for several years during hunting season for different outfitters in the Grangeville area. He enjoyed working with horses and was parade marshall of Grangeville's Border Days in 1973. He took an active part in the areas rodeos in his younger years. He was born October 4, 1898, in Posey County, Indiana to John and Ellen Cash. The family moved to Idaho County in 1900 where they homesteaded in the Tolo Lake area. He attended the Tolo Lake school and later farmed in Nespelem, Wash. He worked on the Grand Coulee Dam when it was constructed and moved back to Grangeville in 1945. He married Verna Roberts October 23, 1946. She died in 1978. Survivors include four daughters, Mardell Muller of Wilbur, Marcia Sather of Spokane, Linda Merness of Delta Junction, Ala., and Lita Harris of Grangeville; one brother, Guy Cash of Nezperce; 15 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. Two brothers and four sisters preceded him in death. Services were Saturday, July 24, at the Noland Funeral Home in Grangeville with the Rev. Charles Martin of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in the Prairie View Cemetery.
