Verna Cash, Grangeville

  Verna M. Cash, 76, Grangeville, a former dairy owner, cook, schoolteacher 
and office worker, died at her home Thursday following a long illness.
  She was born November 13, 1901, at Hunter, Wash., to Henry and Talitha 
Lamb.  The family moved to Stites a year later and she attended schools 
there.  She attended Lewiston State Normal School, graduating in 1919.  She 
taught school at Graves Creek near Cottonwood for a year after she graduated.
  She later moved to Grangeville where, in the 1940's, she worked for the 
Alexander & Friedenrich department store, the federal Office of Price 
Administration and Black Auto Parts.
  She and her husband owned a dairy at Grangeville from 1948 to 1955.  After 
1955 she cooked in hunting camps for several years.
  She married Joe Roberts Feb. 5, 1921.  They divorced in 1944.  She married 
Manford Cash at Grangeville Oct. 22, 1946.
  She was a member of the Grangeville Rebekah Lodge for 50 years.
  She is survived by her husband at the family home; a daughter, Lita Harris 
of Grangeville; three stepdaughters, Marcia Sather of Spokane, Mardell Meuller 
of Grand Coulee, Wash., and Linda Anderson of Delta Junction, Alaska; a 
brother, Charles Lamb of Kamiah; two sisters, Doris Elwell of Bremerton, 
Wash., and Clara Ruark of Grangeville, four grandchildren, and five great-
grandchildren.
  Services are scheduled for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Noland Funeral Home at 
Grangeville, with the Rev. Charles Martin of the Grangeville Baptist Church 
officiating.  Graveside services by the Rebekah Lodge will follow at Prairie 
View Cemetery.
