Duckworth, 67, died a few minutes after he accidentally shot himself with a 25-35 calibre rifle about 10 a.m. Friday, January 16, at the Ben Zehner farm home in the Tolo section. The bullet ranged upward through the left side of the body emerging near the shoulder blade, and was found lodged in a door casing. Glenn Ailor, coroner, who was summoned, said the gun was in a corner of the kitchen with other guns when Duckworth attempted to lift it from the corner and caused its discharge. Members of the family heard the shot and found the victim seated on a chair several feet away. Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 19, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. W. O. Benthin, officiating. Interment was in Denver cemetery. Mr. Duckworth was born in Sullivan county, Indiana, October 30, 1874. He came to Idaho in 1923 and two years later married Hazel Effie Zehner. They engaged in farming the Tolo lake country. Survivors include his wife, Hazel; a sister, Mrs. Vera Trixie Troop of Chehalis, Wash., and a brother, George Thomas, in Canada.
