Jake B. Gortsema, 86

   Jake B. Gortsema, 86, a longtime Sunnyside, Wash., resident, died July 27, 
2005. He was born June 4, 1919, in Grangeville to Kryn and Sadie Gortsema. 
There he grew up on the family farm and attended school. On Sept. 14, 1941, he 
married his sweetheart, Grace Kingma. He worked as a wheat farmer and later a 
machinist and operated a machine shop on a farm near Grangeville. In 1956 the 
family moved to Sunnyside. He owned and operated Gortsema Service and Supply. 
He repaired farm equipment, but also designed and manufactured farm 
implements.
