(DUTCH) HAYDEN, 58, died May 21, at St. Mary's Hospital, Cottonwood, of cancer. Mr. Hayden was born November 18, 1906 at Ferdinand. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hayden. He operated the Ferdinand Grange until 1936 when he sold it and purchased the Idaho Chief Petroleum Products at Cottonwood and moved it to Ferdinand to supply Phillips 66 dealers. He and his wife also operated the Northwest Bell Telephone exchange from 1936 until it closed in 1955. He was married to Marjorie Ford at Ferdinand June 16, 1936. He was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church, Holy Names Society, and Ferdinand Grange. Besides the widow, survivors are three daughters; Mrs. Richard Newby, Grangeville; Mrs. Bob Wiseman, Spokane; and Mrs. James Hill, Seattle; two brothers; Albert J. Hayden, Orofino; Richard J. Hayden, Seattle; a sister, Mrs. Mary Bales, Lewiston, and six grandchildren. Requiem High Mass was sung at the Assumption Catholic Church in Ferdinand, Monday at 10 o'clock. The Rev. Fr. P.J. O'Sullivan, pastor, was celebrant. The Holy Names Society, of which Mr. Hayden was a member, formed a guard of honor at the church entrance. Honorary pallbearers were John A. Frei, Mike Hansen, H.F. Uhlorn, Martin Kroiss, Ernest Behler, August Wensman, and Norbert Lehmeier. Active pallbearers were Cecil Uhling, Vincent Frei, Andrew Lurwig, William J. Lorentz, Michael Madden, and Percy Roeper. Burial was in Ferdinand Cemetery with the Uhlorn Funeral Home in charge.
