HYACINTHA A pall of sorrow settle over the community late Saturday when word was received of the death of Sister M. Hyacintha, O.S.B, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Schnider of Cottonwood. Sister M. Hyacintha had been in failing health for some time and although her demise was not expected, still it left a void in the hearts her many friends to realize that she had been called from the chosen vocation at such an early point in life. Lena Schnider was born at Hazelton, North Dakota, January 3, 1903. At the age of six years she came west with her parents and located at Cottonwood. She grew to young womanhood here and in 1923 she entered St Gertrude’s Convent as a novice and passing her novitiate she later took up teaching as her chosen field. She taught in the parochial school at Pomeroy for one year, then spent seven years in the parochial school at Ferdinand and one term at St. Joseph’s School at Cottonwood. Failing [health] forced her to retire from the strenuous duties of teaching and for the past three years her condition gradually became worse and Saturday she answered the final summons. Sister M. Hyacintha is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Schnider; one sister, Mrs. L.A. Rad; and four brothers, Henry, Louis, Bernad and Richard Schnider all of Cottonwood. Funeral services were conducted at the convent chapel Tuesday morning. A solemn requiem High Mass was read by Rev. Fr. Alfred and interment was in private cemetery of the institution.
