Ball Suicide July 31, 1928 Hazelton Dairyman Dies At Own Hands Guy A. Ball, 50, Strangles Wife In Insane Fit; Turns Rifle To Temple And Fires ______________________ Hazelton- July 30 Special to the news!- Seised with a fit of insanity after years of ill health and worry over financial reserves, Guy A. Ball, 50, Hazelton dairyman attempted to strangle his wife and then turned a 22 caliber rifle to his temple and pulled the trigger, dying instantly, at his ranch home, one and one half miles east of here at 11:30 o'clock this morning. Mr. Ball has not appeared to be quite himself for several days, neighbors reported, but had always been devoted to his wife. About 11:30 o'clock, Monday morning, he entered the living room of his farm home, attacking his wife, attempting to strangle her. Immediately after he went into the kitchen and shot himself through the left temple with a small bore rifle. Mr. and Mrs. Ball have resided at Hazelton for the last eight years. Previouse to moving to Hazelton, they had operated a ranch in the vicinity of Twin Falls since early days. They came to Southern Idaho from Michigan where their relatives are still living. They have no children. P.J. Grossman, Twin Falls, County Coroner, was called to investigate the case and declared it to be purely suicide while in a temporary state of insanity.
