G. Baugh, acting coroner, went to the Devil's Corral,Dec 9th,and held an inquest over the body of a dead man, found on the North bank of Snake River in what is known as the Devil's Corral. The facts developed were that the man was known as J.V.Haughey,age about fifty or Fity Five years, and that he was a hobo in Shoshone some time ago,and Alpha Kinsey gave him a lift by sending him down on his wild ranch, just above the great Shoshone Falls,to look after the deer confined in the park, called the Devil's Corral. It seems that Haughey had crossed the river in a skiff he kept for the purpose, and gone on to Twin falls where he had purchased some provisions and a stock of liquor.Returning to the river he had driven the boat up a draw well into the willows where he stepprd out of the boat and fell over onto his back with his feet in the water.Probley he fell asleep there and died of exposure before regaining consciousness. The body had lain there some six weeks and had been disturbed by wild animals. The doctor, with the assistance of a few men whom he was able to summon in that lonesome spot, found a suitable spot and gave the unfortunate man a burial. Additional Comments: A lone unmarked grave lies close to the Devil's Corral.
